This past weekend saw the most Saturday action since before the holidays as the wrestling season begins to get put into high gear.
Everett hosted its Bloody Run Duals and it was no surprise to see West Branch win the tournament, beating Forest Hills for the title. Locally, Everett went 2-3 while Tussey Mountain was 0-5. Also in a dual meet makeup, Penn Cambria defeated Bedford.
In all likelihood, that was my final Saturday off for the rest of the season, as plenty of big events are looming. This weekend, there are two dual meet events that each feature one of my teams. Claysburg is hosting a dual meet tournament that was formerly the Glendale Duals. The field includes Claysburg, Central, Forest Hills, Glendale, Johnstown, Juniata Valley, Marion Center, and Tyrone.
The higher profile event takes place at Brookville with the annual Ultimate Duals, one of the top dual meet tournaments in the state. For the second year in a row, Chestnut Ridge makes the trip and the rest of the team field is the same as 2014: Brookville, Brockway, Burrell, Reynolds and Saegertown.
Based on Mark Dugan's Off the Mat Rankings of last week, the Ultimate Duals will feature four of the top 10 teams in the state. He has Reynolds #1, Chestnut Ridge #3, Saegertown #4, and Brookville at #7. Burrell is #22.
I plan to have more on each of these tournaments as the week progresses. For now, here's this week's full schedule. Note that tonight's Northern Bedford at Claysburg match was rescheduled to Wednesday. Remember that the Chestnut Ridge at Berlin dual is this Thursday.

Wednesday's Match

A couple more things:
— The District 6-AA (and AAA) seeding points can now be found on the main page for District 6 Wrestling. Here's a link to the Class AA points as of the latest update - D6-AA Seed Points.
— While several of the projected top teams in the state will be in Brookville on Saturday, I'll also be keeping an eye on the dual between Boiling Springs and Bermudian Springs, ranked #2 and #5 by Dugan, respectively. That match and the Ultimate Duals will certainly play into future rankings and serves as previews for the state duals early next month.
Going through the matchups quickly, I have Boiling Springs favored with a 7-5 split in bouts with two tossups. The Bubblers are heavily favored throughout the middle of the lineup and could get quite a bit of bonus points. Bermudian has a strong group of upperweights.
