Weekend Preview

   Yes, it is nearing time for Chestnut Ridge-Berlin, but let's take a quick look ahead to what's in store for this Saturday, as a pair of dual meet tournaments highlight my card. Here's a preview of each:

Ultimate Duals at Brookville

   Analysis: How good is this going to be? With three of the top four state ranked teams by Mark Dugan of Off the Mat, if you can get to Brookville early Saturday, be there. Individually, each of the six teams has at least three wrestlers ranked in the top 16 at their respective weights. On paper, Reynolds has a slight edge on Chestnut Ridge and Brookville. Reynolds and Chestnut Ridge appear to be the most balanced from top to bottom and that should be a barnburner. Reynolds is very strong from 113-132 and is also strong at the top. The Lions were 3-2 here last year in their first appearance and I think they have a good chance at four or five wins this time around.
   Whichever way this day turns out, expect it to be a mini-preview of what lies ahead in the Class AA State Duals early next month.

   Analysis: Claysburg hosts a dual meet tournament this year, in what was to be the Glendale Duals at the start of the season but the site was changed and Claysburg agreed to host. Central is the favorite going in and should probably meet Forest Hills for the championship.
