Here is my match-by-match look at Thursday's quarterfinals with probable lineups. Chestnut Ridge has a bye through to Saturday, as only seven teams qualified.
(7) HOPE for Hyndman at (2) Bedford
(Hyndman wrestlers listed first)
106 - Tanner Clites (So., 20-10) vs. Jonathan Gabriel (Fr., 24-1)
113 - Robby Snyder (So., 24-9) vs. Jake Warren (Jr. 17-9)
120 - No entry vs. Ryan Easter (Jr., 24-1)
126 - Chris Gibbner (Jr., 16-14) vs. Garrett Thomas (Jr., 23-2)
132 - No entry vs. Kenny Collins (So., 10-11)
138 - No entry vs. Toby Brett (Jr., 19-5)
145 - No entry vs. Ty Zimmerman (So., 2-7)
152 - Tyler Clites (Sr., 13-18) vs. Tanner Williams (Sr., 23-4) or Niklas Wendt (Sr., 1-4)
160 - Richard Moskey (Sr., 27-7) vs. Caleb Grimes (Sr., 19-7)
170 - Oscar Miller (Jr., 16-11) vs. Cameron Sheeder (So., 0-5)
182 - No entry vs. Michael Brett (Sr., 18-6)
195 - Jake Bennett (Jr., 29-1) vs. Daryl Stiffler (Jr., 6-10)
220 - Dylan Emerick (Sr., 15-4) vs. Chance Williams (Jr., 15-9)
285 - No entry vs. Nate Shoemaker (So., 11-8)
Analysis: This is a tough go for the Hornets with so many likely forfeits, though word is that Emerick may wrestle despite a knee injury that he suffered early in the month. I would favor HOPE for Hyndman at 170 and 195. Most intriguing bout of the night is at 160, where I have Moskey and Grimes as the top two wrestlers in my coverage area.
Prediction: Bedford 58-15.
(6) Northern Bedford at (3) Meyersdale
(Northern Bedford wrestlers listed first, my best guess on Meyersdale records here as nothing I have found is complete online)
106 - Trey Childers (So., 10-12) vs. Trevor Thomas (Fr., 19-12)
113 - Brandon Defibaugh (Fr., 8-9) vs. Billy Charlton (Sr., 27-5)
120 - Jared Helsley (So., 12-11) vs. Brady McKenzie (So., 18-12)
126 - Judah Gochnour (So., 2-10) vs. Collin Day (Sr., 29-7)
132 - Mason Replogle (Sr., 18-5) vs. Tanner Hetrick (Jr., 25-9)
138 - Damian Corle (Sr., 18-7) vs. Hunter Lantz (Sr., 13-8)
145 - Drew Gartland (Sr., 22-0) vs. Seth Deist (Jr., 24-9)
152 - Ty Bechtel (So., 10-9) vs. David Stanton (Jr., 10-18)
160 - Lucas Kolinchak (Fr., 4-7) or Dylan Shipley (Jr., 4-8) vs. Billy Dunbar (Sr., 19-7)
170 - Duelin Douglas (Sr., 8-7) vs. Tim Hines (Sr., NA)
182 - Justin Brunner (Sr., 15-8) vs. Gavin Berkley (Jr., 33-2)
195 - Derick Eichelberger (Sr., 8-8) vs. No entry
220 - Eric Grace (Sr., 18-4) vs. No entry
285 - Chase Ott (So., 8-12) vs. No entry
Analysis: Of the three quarterfinals, this should be the most interesting one. Straight up, Meyersdale has strong edges at 113, 126, 160 and 182. Northern will benefit from forfeit wins if that happens in the three highest weights. The Black Panthers will likely need the senior trio of Replogle, Corle, and Gartland to come through with three wins and maybe a bonus point or two also. Replogle-Hetrick is a marquee matchup. Bouts at 120 and 152 could also be the key for either side.
Prediction: Northern Bedford, 33-32.
(5) North Star at (4) Berlin
(North Star wrestlers listed first)
106 - Lenny Beeman (Jr., 14-8) vs. Emil Kiesnowski (Fr., 8-18)
113 - James Shaffer (So., 6-6) vs. Tommy DeArmitt (Jr., 18-12)
120 - Tayte Mostoller (Sr., 22-12) vs. Joe Swank (Fr., 26-5)
126 - Colton Gennett (Jr., 3-11) vs. Anthony Collins (Jr., 21-8)
132 - Michael Baker (So., 3-10) vs. Chris Miller (Sr., 28-3)
138 - Tevin Mostoller (So., 24-6) vs. Braden Fochtman (Fr., 23-8)
145 - Luke Lepley (Jr., 10-12) vs. Eric Darr (Sr., 18-12)
152 - Corey Fritch (Jr., 19-10) vs. Blake Miller (Sr., 24-10)
160 - Austin Connor (So., 9-10) vs. Bryce Fochtman (So., 27-2)
170 - Thomas Miller (Jr., 9-14) vs. Trevor Moore (So., 12-15)
182 - Hunter Connor (So., 9-10) vs. Shane Pepper (So., 14-14)
195 - Kevin Horner (Jr., 14-11) vs. Stew Trulick (Jr., 26-5)
220 - Levi Albright (Jr., 22-8) vs. Mitchell Walker (Sr., 20-7)
285 - Brady Vinisky (So., 2-6) vs. Anthony Collins (Fr., 11-5)
Analysis: Berlin beat North Star, 55-13, on January 10. Hard not to see the Mountaineers picking up the win again here. That said, there should be some interesting bouts, with 138, 152 and 220 standing out. At 138, Mostoller owns a pair of decisions this season over Fochtman, and at 152, Fritch and Miller have split two encounters, while Albright has a 2-1 edge on Walker at 220 this year.
Prediction: Berlin, 49-17.
