Now that mid-February is approaching, the individual part of the wrestling season is nearly upon us. That begins this weekend with the District 6-AA Tournament in Altoona.
That highlights the upcoming set of days for local action. In short, let's review the past week.
Obviously, that starts with Chestnut Ridge's performance in Hershey at the Class AA Team Duals, where the Lions became the first finalist in the smaller-school level from the District 5 and 6 area.
I did a couple of blog entries over the weekend, as you can view below, and of course covered the journey to second place extensively for the Bedford Gazette. Also, look for tomorrow's paper as I discuss how the wrestling foundation built by Hall of Famer Jim Clark at Chestnut Ridge is being taken to another level under Greg Lazor. That's on the weekly wrestling page in my "Cheap Tilts" piece.
In other news, Bedford had a solid win over Somerset on Saturday night. Bisons' coach Brian Creps seemed enthused by the result as his team starts preparing for the individual season.
Here's what's going on locally this week:
Tuesday's Matches
Tussey Mountain at Chestnut Ridge (6 p.m. start)
Philipsburg at Northern Bedford
HOPE for Hyndman at Berlin
Wednesday's Match
Bedford at Greater Latrobe
Friday/Saturday
District 6-AA Tournament at Altoona
