Bedford grad and redshirt freshman Brian Gibbons gave UPJ one of its four individual championships in Saturday's Washington and Jefferson Open that kicked off the Mountain Cats' 2012-13 season.
Gibbons, a three-time PIAA state qualifier with Bedford, had two pins, a major decision, and a win by injury default (over UPJ teammate Gary Lantz) before beating Thiel College's Jerrold Roosa by a 5-4 decision for the 174-pound title.
